WELCOME

North West Women's Centre aims to bring women together and enable them to tackle issues of importance and to find practical ways of improving their situation. This will include:

  • Giving women confidence to take an active role in the wider community
  • Encouraging women to develop non-traditional skill and improve their employment opportunities
  • Encouraging women to find collective ways of overcoming fears of assault which isolate and restrict women's participation in community life
  • Raising awareness of women's health issues and establishing advice support and counselling
  • Encouraging women particularly young, disabled and ethnic minorities to make full and equal use of local activities

There are many sensitive issues, which require courage for women to confront such as domestic violence, rape, sexual abuse, incest addiction, mental health and discrimination. By tackling issues, which cause women stress, and creating help through mutual support and action,North West Women's Centre will help to prevent breakdown of women's mental and physical health. To overcome the effects and fear of violence and through support, advice, referral, groupwork and self-help assist women to deal with these issues.

All of the facilities the Women's Centre provides are offered in a safe women-only space to create a non-threatening atmosphere which provides women with the opportunity to build up confidence, skills and self-esteem well as being able to raise and discuss sensitive issues in a supportive environment with childcare facilities.
